The majority of questions we receive arise during the first week after birth. For that reason, a few days after you return home you will receive a telephone call from a nurse to arrange for either a home visit or a telephone consult. During your consult, you and the nurse will discuss how you, your baby, and your family are doing. She will answer your questions and provide information on:

•  Newborn care: breastfeeding, recognizing jaundice in newborns, cord and circumcision care, burping, bathing, crying, and wakeful nights
  •  Maternal care: incision and peri-care, breast care, diet, when to resume sexual relations, and postpartum emotional adjustment
  •  Family adjustment and sibling concerns
