Hospital and Insurance Billing and Payments
In order to ensure your hospital bill is processed correctly, when you come to the hospital, please bring the following:
- Insurance card or Medicare card
- Identification (examples include: California driver's license or identification card)
- Cash, check, or credit card (Visa or MasterCard) for co-payment and / or deductible payment. (For co-payment or deductible amounts, please contact the SYVCH Admitting Department at (805) 688-6431.
Payment Upon Admission
The admission deposit is the portion of your estimated total bill that insurance does not cover, and / or for which you are responsible. The deposit can be paid by cash, check or major credit card. If you wish to schedule an appointment to discuss financial arrangements prior to your admission, call (805) 688-6431.
The hospital will act as your billing agent and will submit a claim to your health insurance company.
In addition to your hospital bill, you may also receive separate bills from your physician, anesthesiologist, radiologist, or other specialists who cared for you. Please make any billing inquiries directly to those providers.
It is ultimately the patient's responsibility to ensure that all bills are paid. The patient will receive a bill for services after all other payment options have been exhausted.
Cottage Health System does not bill third party automobile insurance, homeowner insurance, or any other type of third party or personal injury insurance. The patient is responsible for paying the claim. A patient / guarantor can request a copy of their bill by contacting Customer Service at (805) 879-8900 to facilitate reimbursement from a third-party insurance.
Payments and Financial Assistance
Payments may be made at the Cottage Health System billing office, at 6550 Hollister Avenue in Goleta, on the second floor. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Customer Service can be reached at (805) 879-8900.
You may also handle payment at the Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital Admission Office between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The cashier's office is on the just off the main lobby.;
