Every four minutes, a woman dies from a post partum hemorrhage. Maternal death from hemorrhage is the greatest health inequity of the 21st century. This course explains reasons for bad outcomes, risk factors and “drugs and devices” for the diagnosis and treatment of obstetrical hemorrhage.


Course Objectives:

  • Explain risk factors for and physiologic consequences of obstetric hemorrhage.
  • Define obstetrical hemorrhage.
  • Describe medications used for management of obstetrical hemorrhage.
  • Improve multidisciplinary readiness, recognition, response, and reporting of hemorrhage.
