Jorden’s Story

It was 12:30 am on her 50th birthday when Susan was awakened by the phone call that every parent fears. Her then 15-year-old son, Jorden, had been in a skateboarding accident and his friends were driving him to the hospital. Jorden wasn’t wearing a helmet; the fall caused a life-threatening brain bleed.

Why did you decide to make a personal goal of raising money for Cottage Children’s Hospital?

“Because Cottage Children’s Hospital is the hospital that saved my life – and made it possible through donations."

Why is the hospital so important to you?
“This hospital saved my life "

What has been your experience with Cottage Children’s Hospital?
"I was brought in with a traumatic brain injury and underwent my treatment here.”

If you could say one thing to encourage someone to give to Cottage Children’s Hospital, what would it be?

“The donations to Cottage Children’s Hospital and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals directly affect the hospital’s ability to treat patients, and thereby the wellbeing of the community.”

How can people help you reach your goal?
“By donating, assisting in fundraising, and volunteering with the hospital.”
