Lauren’s Story
While visiting her older sister in San Luis Obispo for the July 4th holiday, Lauren suddenly lost her ability to speak and was rushed to the emergency room of a nearby hospital where doctors diagnosed an arterial venous malformation – an abnormal formation of blood vessels which in her case caused a life-threatening brain bleed.
Lauren was transported to Cottage where she underwent surgery and received follow-up medical support in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Cottage Children’s Hospital.
