Participants are required to attend BOTH days to receive contact hours.


The ELNEC -- End of Life Education Core Curriculum -- is designed to provide nurses and other healthcare and hospice professionals with palliative care knowledge and skills. The program combines lecture presentations with case studies and experiential exercises to help the attendees incorporate principles of hospice and palliative care into their practice.


Course Objectives

At the end of the course the learner will be able to:

  • Describe the role of the nurse in providing quality end of life care for patients across the lifespan
  • Describe pharmacological and nonpharmacological therapies used to relieve pain
  • Apply ethical principles utilized in addressing end-of-life/palliative care dilemmas, including models for case analysis and use of ethics committees
  • Discuss beliefs regarding death and dying held by various cultures
  • Define loss, mourning, grief, and bereavement
  • Discuss how nurses can improve access and promote clinical excellence in end-of life care

Cancellations will be accepted by phone until October 29, 2013. Participants who cancel after this time or are a “no-show” will be charged the full amount. In the event a course is cancelled, enrollees will be notified by phone or mail, and $180 refunded.
