Sometimes, in spite of every precaution, a baby is born with problems that require special attention. At Cottage Children’s Hospital, a team of highly skilled specialists in neonatology offers the highest level of care for these newborns. Our 22-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) cares for critically ill newborns. The unit is supported by trained professionals, such as nurses, dietitians, and physical therapists. Staff members work closely with the family to explain treatment, medications, and the equipment used. We offer parents support, counseling, and medical social services. Parents are encouraged to be with the baby anytime. |
