ICU Rounds
Every Monday and Friday morning, the ICU junior/intern will present all ICU patients. Dr. Waxman or Dr. Thoman will be present. Mandatory attendance unless in operating room or clinic.

Wednesday:

0700-0745

Morbidity & Mortality Conference
The M&Ms for each month will be presented. Interns and juniors will supply their senior resident with a list of their cases.

Surgical Grand Rounds

Lecture
Currently, Wednesday mornings are protected teaching times. The curriculum is a comprehensive review of basic and clinical surgical science. Lectures are given by surgical attendings. Questions are printed and handed out to all residents to complete before conference.

First Thursday of each month:

Vascular Conference (Dr.Cisek)
An interesting vascular case to be presented by one of the residents. Scheduled by the blue team senior.

Tumor Board

The Great Debate

Several times a year, Dr. Waxman will schedule this conference. He assigns teams of two residents each to debate different sides of controversial topics in General Surgery.

Vascular Grand Rounds

GI Conference

This conference will occur every 3-4 months. Usually the chief/senior resident on the Blue Service will present vascular cases and discussions in conjunction with Dr. Cisek.

 

This conference occurs on the last Wednesday of each month. It is designed to be an up-to-date evidence-based lecture on a topic involving the gastrointestinal system. The assigned residents will present a case and discussion.

Residents are responsible for 1) finding their own topic/patient, 2) reviewing the pertinent literature, and 3) making their own PowerPoint presentation.
