Cottage’s Laboratory Assistant
Program follows NAACLS guidelines for Phlebotomy Training Programs.
Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive
a phlebotomy certificate and will be eligible to take the American
Society of Phlebotomy Technicians certification exam.
The program
consists of four consecutive weeks of training. Students will be
trained in the proper techniques of blood collection for
adults and children using both venipuncture and capillary techniques.
The program provides training in specimen handling and processing
for in-house testing and sendouts to reference laboratories. Students
are introduced to basic tests and equipment in the laboratory.
Students’ progress is monitored through a checklist of objectives
and written exams.
Classes are scheduled for four hours
per day, Monday through Friday, from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. Classes are
limited to no more than six students; classes fill one month in
advance of the starting date. Prospective students may contact
us for an updated class schedule.
