Enfermedad renal en etapa terminal (ESRD) se refiere a una condición permanente en la cual los riñones ya no pueden filtrar desecho de la sangre. A medida que se acumulan los desechos, los pequeños filtros en los riñones (nefrones) siguen perdiendo su capacidad de filtración.
