El objetivo del tratamiento de hipertensión es reducir la presión arterial hasta un rango dentro de lo normal, y mantenerla allí mientras se conservan al mínimo los efectos secundarios adversos del tratamiento médico. El principal objetivo es evitar y reducir las complicaciones de la hipertensión. El control de la hipertensión involucra cambios en el estilo de vida y medicamentos.
