Pautas para la detección
El examen de detección del herpes genital no se recomienda para todos. Sin embargo, si se realizará un examen o recibirá tratamiento para otra enfermedad de transmisión sexual , es posible que su médico realice un examen para el herpes genital. Tener varias parejas sexuales lo pone en mayor riesgo de infectarse con el virus.

Si está embarazada, su médico le preguntará si tiene herpes genital y la examinará para verificar si tiene llagas en su área genital. Es posible que se realice un examen para averiguar si tiene el virus. Esto es especialmente importante en el momento del parto para evitar transmitir el virus al bebé.
