Auxiliary Offers Scholarships for Students Pursuing Health Careers

The Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital Auxiliary (SYVCHA) offers scholarships each year to Santa Ynez Valley high school seniors or graduates who wish to pursue careers in a health- or medical-related field. In 2012, three scholarships, each for $3,000, were awarded.
The auxiliary is pleased to announce that applications for 2013 scholarships are now being accepted through March 13, 2013.

Current high school students must obtain a different scholarship application from Santa Ynez Valley Union High School (call 688-6487, ext. 3208).
Applicants must be high school seniors or graduates, have good scholastic standing, be planning careers in the health field, and have acceptance from the accredited school of their choice. Applications received after March 13, 2013 will not be accepted. Scholarship winners will be contacted in April and will be required to attend and accept their check at the annual SYVCH Auxiliary "Thank-You" Picnic on April 24, 2013.

Founded in 1962, Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital Auxiliary is an all-volunteer organization providing more than 18,000 service hours annually to the facility. The auxiliary operates the New to You Shop at 1689 Oak Street in Solvang, and volunteers sponsor and participate in numerous fundraising events supporting the hospital’s mission. Founded in 1964, the not-for-profit Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital (SYVCH) provides high quality outpatient surgical services, inpatient care, comprehensive imaging (including MRI, CT, digital mammography, ultrasound, X-ray), on-site laboratory, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, physicians specialty clinic and 24-hour emergency services to the community. Located at 2050 Viborg Road in Solvang, SYVCH is part of the not-for-profit Cottage Health System, which includes Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and its associated Cottage Children’s Hospital and Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital, and Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital.
