Radiology Program Policies and Procedures*
General Responsibilities and Lines of Supervision
Duties During Weekday Working Hours
Residents are required to cover their assigned services from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Residents may need to work beyond these hours as the clinical workload requires.
Duties During Weekends and Holidays
• 1 shift from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
• Night float resident covers 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.the following morning
On-Call Duties
The on-call resident is expected to cover call from 8:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. the following morning on weeknights; and on weekends from 5:00 p.m. Friday to 8:00 a.m. Monday, with 12 hour shifts between two residents.
Duties During Outside Rotations
Residents are expected to fulfill coverage and call responsibilities required by the affiliated institution.
Reporting of Cases
Residents are required to review and sign their dictations in a timely fashion.
Conference Attendance
Residents are expected to attend all required intra and interdepartmental conferences (a schedule of these is available). The first year residents are expected to research, prepare, and present the Radiology Pathology Correlation Conferences monthly on an alternating basis. Residents are required to attend the AIRP course in their third year.
Teaching Responsibilities
Residents are expected to participate in the teaching of visiting medical students and more junior residents on their services.
Research
Residents are expected to complete a research project or paper for which dedicated time is allotted during the second year. See Research section for more information.
Evaluations
Resident progress is evaluated after each rotation by the attending staff. The program director conducts semi-annual face-to-face evaluations with each resident. Residents are expected to participate in the annual evaluation of the program and faculty. See Evaluation section for more information.
