The current healthcare environment presents many challenges for organizations as they face declining reimbursements and an uncertain future. So how will health reform impact nursing care and the future of the critical care nurse? This class will explore the implications of value based purchasing and the changing role of the critical care nurse. To move forward with the type of change needed in healthcare, nurses need strategies to consider ways to “do less” with less and recognize the value of professional development to “be more”.

  • Explore the impact of health reform on the future of the critical care
    nurse
  • Define value based purchasing and implications to continuity of care
  • Discuss the importance and responsibility of professional development for the critical care nurse
