The content of the traditional 18 hour course has been streamlined and will be presented in a series of two 6 hour classes.  You may attend any first session and any second session.  Attendance at both sessions is required.  All classes are on Tuesdays, and held at SBCH.

Course Objectives:

• Describe the advantages of breast feeding
• Discuss the public health impact and how this ties to AAP, WHO, and NIH guidelines
• Develop skills with patient communication and counseling
• Link evidence based practice and hospital policies that support breastfeeding
• Learn the mechanics of lactation management
• Identify and treat breastfeeding and latch problems
• Describe early and late onset breastfeeding problems
